Halloween and Jack-O-Lanterns

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Here are a few pictures of our girls in their costumes. Avery is the team mascot and Lexi is the team cheerleader.

"Go team, go!"

Last week, "we" carved pumpkins. Lexi refused to touch the pumpkin guts just like last year.

Lexi like stirring the seeds in a bowl though.

And the finished products... Sean did a good job. For those of you who aren't familiar with Sesame Street it's Elmo and Bert.

And our other Jack-O-Lantern, Avery! Little Miss Avery got her third tooth today! It's a companion tooth for her first tooth.

I would be surprised if Avery has a mouth full of teeth soon. Her gums are all swollen.

Hope you have a good Halloween. We celebrated on Friday (see previous post) and tonight we are just cuddling on the couch as a family watch America's Funniest Home Video's (a family favorite).

*Side note: Today we found a solid food that Avery actually seems to enjoy... potatoes! I should have known she would, after all she was born in Idaho.

Trunk-or-Treat

Last night we went to a Halloween party at the church. I have never seen such a good turn out at any church activity. The place was packed! There was a soup pot luck, games for the kids to play and a silent auction to help raise money for camp. And of course the Trunk-or-Treat. Here are a few pictures from the night...

Avery was a doll (like always). She didn't fuss or make a peep the whole time even though she was running fever.

Lexi got her face painted for the first time.


Family picture. Sean and I are Peruvian soccer players. Lexi is a cheerleader and Avery isn't wearing her costume here but she has cat themed PJs and a cat hat. Fun side note: The PJs Avery's wearing are size 12 month. Lexi actually wore them last year at 15 months old and now Avery is wearing them at 6 months old. They are of course looser on Avery.

I passed out candy from our trunk while Sean took Lexi Trunk-or-Treating to all the other trunks. Lexi is so shy in public. Sean told me that in the beginning she would quietly say, "Trick-or-Treat" but stopped because she realized people wearing handing out candy anyway.

Lexi stayed up hours passed her bedtime on a sugar high. She was so excited to get lots of candy!

Six Month Check-Up

Today was Avery's 6 month check-up. She did amazing! She shared lots of smiles with the nurses and doctor and after her shots she cried for 30 seconds, nursed and then took a nap. Lexi decided to wear her scrubs to the appointment and help the staff out...

Avery is now 15 lbs 6 ozs (30%) and 26 inches long (55%). So at this age Avery and Lexi are actually almost the exact same size.

Avery's First Half Birthday

Six months ago today Avery made her grand entrance into the world. Everyday I am so grateful for this little girl in my life. Avery has taught me once again what it means to love another person more than myself. My eyes are watering up as I think about how much Avery means to me. She is an amazing little girl. She's so sweet and has the best smile and laugh. I can't imagine our lives without her, it just seems like she's always been with us. Even though Lexi can be a little rough, she loves her little sisters so much already and is protective of her.

Avery hardly ever cries and is so easy to watch. She basically watches herself. I can just let her playing on the floor with some toys for up to an hour at a time and she doesn't make a peep.

Avery has been teething and the poor thing isn't sleeping well (me and Sean either - the joys of sharing a room with your baby). She has been up so much at night again.


Since teething, Avery has also stopped showing interest in solid foods.

Avery is to the stage where she wants to be holding ANYTHING and EVERYTHING around her. And then she wants to put it into her mouth.

-Since teething, Avery has started to kinda take a binkie. She mostly just chews on it but it will help calm her down.

-Avery can sit up unsupported but falls over often wiggling or trying to grab things out of her reach.

-Avery doesn't crawl but she rolls over and wiggles around on the floor to get what she wants.

-Avery naps three times a day.

-Avery is such a happy baby! She is the kind of baby that makes us want to have more kids. The other day Sean and I were talking about twins and Sean said he would love twin Avery's. I would too. She's just that great!

Two Little Ducks

So I'm not sure what I'm going to do about this costume. I bought it for Avery. It's way bigger than I expected (the joys of online shopping). It was the "Infant" size. I guess I should have bought the "Newborn" one. Oh well. We'll get use out of it from at least one if not both our girls...

You can't really tell in this picture but the costume is a little high water-ish on Lexi. Which I guess should be expected since it's a size 6-18 month costume. So cute though!

Halloween 2011 Preview

I'm on a blogging roll today! Anyway, Avery's Halloween costume came in the mail today. I got it on clearance. I thought it was a 6-12 month costume but nope, it's a 6-18 month size. So it's a little big. Oh well, she's still cute and she'll be able to wear it next year when she really is 18 months old. Here's a little sneak peak of the cutest little duck...

For fun I put the duck hat on Lexi and it doesn't really look small. I haven't try the costume on her yet...

Clippies?

Avery has so much more hair than Lexi did at this age. She has some hairs that are seriously 6 inches long! Maybe it's time I start putting little clippies in her hair.

Lexi Says the Darndest Things...

Lexi cracks me up daily. Her journal is always close by now so I jot down all the funny stuff that comes out of her mouth.

Last week, I told Lexi that she had five more minutes until nap time. She looked at me and said, "I'm checking my email."

We have music channels with out cable package. We were listening to the toddler music channel and the song "High-Ho" from Snow White (Lexi isn't familiar with the movie) came on. Lexi looked at me and said, "I no like this noise."

This morning Lexi put one of her baby dolls into a doll car seat and said, "Baby go to hospital." I didn't think she even knew what a hospital was! So I told her that when mommies are pregnant (when there is a baby inside their belly) they go to the hospital and then babies are born (the come outside of their mommy's tummy). Lexi thought about that for a minute and then she put her Lion up her shirt and then pulled him out and said, "Lion born."

Today she came up to me while I was in the bathroom getting ready and said, "I need nursing cover for my boobs cause I'm a Mommy. I wait a minute." When I was done I gave her one of my nursing covers and she pretended to nurse. While she was nursing she kept saying, "I'm a Mommy." Then she told me, "I need nursing pads for my boobs." So I gave her some and she put them up her shirt and has been wearing them since! It's been over an hour. It's so funny to see a two year old with a stuffed shirt.

Two Teeth... Soon to Be More

Poor Avery has been teething all month, well acutally before than too. But this is the month we are actually starting to see teeth. Ever since she got her first tooth (at the time I thought it was two but one didn't really cut through), I knew several more would soon be making their grand appearnance. Well today, her second tooth did just that. As you can tell from the picture below her gums are all swollen and several more teeth are looking ready to cut through. Avery has been such a good baby through all of this. She hardly ever cries and is still full of smiles. She hasn't been sleeping good though. She's not fussy at night, she just not sleeping, seriously. Last Saturday, I was up with her SIX TIMES! That's more than I ever did when she was a newborn! I've been giving her Orajel and some Tylenol and that's been helping her to sleep better. Now I'm just to the point that I want six teeth to poop through so we can be done with teething for awhile.

"Movie Monday" Frustration

I tried several times last night and today and for some reason Blogger isn't letting me upload any videos right now. Too bad because I had a really adorable video to upload of Lexi reading. I'll try again later.

Movie Monday

I didn't really explain myself last week. I want to start a new tradition of posting a video every Monday. Mainly because we don't leave near any family and I want to make sure that our family can see our girls in action. This week's video is of Lexi reading the scriptures. We are reading the Book of Mormon together at night. Lexi "reads" a verse every night. We got the idea from the General Conference talk just give by Rosemary M. Wixom, "Stay on the Path."

Click Clack Moo

Today I went with my friend Tiffany and our kids down to the UNM campus to go see...

It was a short musical based on the childrens' book. I have never taken Lexi to the movie or any sort of play. I wasn't sure how my girls would do but they both did great!

We had to ride a shuttle from the parking lot to the theathre and Lexi was SOOO excited to ride the bus. It was her first time. When I asked her to smile on the but this is what I got....
And here is a picture of Lexi all ready for the show. I couldn't get her to look at the camera, she was too excited.
And here's the stage. It was a cute little play. I think it was a little old for Lexi but she like the music and dancing none the less. And Avery loved it too. Avery spent half of the show wiggling on my lap to the music and the other half sleeping.

Sorry, not such good pictures. You get the idea though.

Post for Brandon

The whole point of this post is to make our brother-in-law Brandon jealous that we live in Albuquerque. He served his mission here and misses it.

Last Friday we went out to dinner at Dion's a yummy restaurant here in ABQ. It was my first time going there and... IT WAS DELISH!!! No wonder Brandon loved it when he lived here in ABQ.

Here is a picture of Lexi sleeping in the car on the way to Dion's. As yes she choose all her own accessories and put them on herself.

In case you didn't know the Zia is the symbol in the middle of the shirt. It's huge here in New Mexico. It's on EVERY THING!

Movie Monday

Avery Has Teeth

Yesterday when we were at the pumpkin patch I realized that Avery has two little teeth poking through her gums. I never would have guessed because she didn't cry once all day. She is such a happy baby and is all smiles even while teething!

I think Avery might teeth like Lexi did (get several in at once and done my 13 months).
