Our Apartment - Part Two

And here's the second half of our place.
I'm sure you were all dying to see pictures!
...
The Kitchen
It's an okay kitchen. I love that it's open to the living room.
It's SOOO much bigger than our last kitchen, I know, crazy!

Don't you love my photography skills in the picture above?
Wow, that picture isn't straight at all.

The Dinning Room

Here's our dinning "room." It's little but gets the job done.
I never really realized that our picture was so off center.
Whatever! What do you expect from a crazy pregnant woman with two little kids?

I forgot to take a picture of what the kitchen/ dinning room look like from the front door.
Oh well. If you want to see that, you can just come visit us :)
...
Next let's venture down the hall.
Don't you love the maps?
They are a must for my hubby.
He's really intellectual like that.

The Bathroom

Down the hall and to the right is our bathroom.
It's a great size, the problem is there is just one of them.
We are planning on moving to a two bath unit eventually.

Don't you love the feminine shower curtain?
Me and the girls do! And Sean just is used to being surround by women!
I actually have no idea what Sean thinks of this shower curtain.
He's just pretty easy going and doesn't complain.

The girls just really wanted to be in all of these pictures.

The door behind Lexi in the picture below leads to the master closet,
which leads to the master bedroom.
So it's a Jack and Jill bathroom.

Pretty exciting, I know, it's a bathroom.

The Master Bedroom

Here's what you see when you walk down the hall.
Our super heavy desk that used to be in a bishop's office at church. It was free so that's great.

This is our little office area.
This is where my bum is planted right now!
And this is were Sean spends HOURS studying.
We really should invest in a more comfortable chair!

And here's the view of our room from the closet.

 OUR BED!!!
This thing is AMAZING!!!
My grandpa and his wife Penny just down graded from a king to a queen and gave us this bed.
This bed is WAY nicer than we could ever afford and sleeping on it is like a dream.
Sean and I were meant to sleep on a king sized bed (we need all the space for our pillows).

Don't you love our "nightstands?"
I've been keeping an eye on the KSL classifieds for a set of matching wooden nighstands.
I've seen a few that I've liked but nothing I've loved, yeah I'm picky.

And for fun here's some pictures of what we're reading.
Sean's nightstand is the one above and mine is the one below, but you probably could have guessed that.

And there you have it!
You're welcome.

Our Apartment - Part One

There are going to have to be at least two post because, let's face it,
every room in my house is not picture worth at the same time!
So here's what you get to see today, the three rooms that were already clean this morning...
...
The Girls' Room
There room is smaller than their last one in Albuquerque. We can barely fit everything into it.
Here's what you see when you walk into their room...

Those bins under their window are filled with most of their dress up clothes.
I think eventually I'd get rid of the little kitchen and put a dresser in it's place for their dress ups.

We're thinking about either getting a daybed and trundle or a bunk bed to give the girls more floor space.

Above Lexi's bed I think I will eventually put up two canvases or
multiple picture frames with the girls artwork (that is if we don't do a bunk bed).
For now this giant piece of butcher paper works.

I bought these paper lanterns at The Paper Lantern Store online for a pretty good deal.
They're a good way of adding a nice pop of color.

The girls closet is tiny, not much bigger than the size of the door!
And it's filled to the brim with their clothes and any toys I could fit in there too.
For now the rest of their toys are on this weird little shelf thing
that is actually meant to go in a garage or laundry room.
I think I will eventually replace it with a book shelf or the Expedit shelf from IKEA.

The Living Room
And here is our awkwardly spaced living room.
Don't you love how there are no pictures on the wall?

I just wish that the wall the TV is on was longer. Our room has two and half walls,
so it's really open but really hard to arrange furniture, in my opinion at least.
To be honest I really loved the layout of our living room in our last Albuquerque apartment,

We recently got a King Sized bed and for about a month had our old queen mattress
on our living room floor. Yeah, it looked really ghetto.
For now we had our old blue foyer chairs and I actually just bought the glider this morning for $5.
But yes, we really do want to get a couch! And we will get one when we find the right one
to go in our weird layout living room.
I'm just not sure if I want a sofa and love seat or a sectional or sofa and chair or chairs.
Any ideas out there about what would look good?

And here in our lonely corner we have our fish.
They are named Lexi, Avery and Eli.

And our fish tank is sitting on this old sewing table that we found by a dumpster.
I refinished it but have yet to add a new knob. Looks pretty good though, right?

And here is our weird half wall that barely fits our TV stand.
And still you can't open the closet door all the way.
And yes, my TV stand is not finished yet. I still need to sand it up a bit and add new knobs.

 The Laundry Room

This is the prettiest room in the house but it's definitely one of my favorites!
This is our first time ever having a washer and dryer and we are LOVING, LOVING, LOVING it!!!
Our laundry room is found through a little door in the middle of our kitchen.

The girls made some artwork to go up in here because Lexi though the room was too boring.

The washer and dyer and all of our little kitchen appliances.
I wonder if that shelf can really hold all that?

And all of this ugly stuff is in there too.
I'm really frustrated that it's not in it's own closet somewhere.
I would love to have all that space for storage!

And there you have it.
Once I clean the other rooms, I'll take pictures and post them.

Good Bye New Mexico!

Last month we loading up everything we own and said good bye
to Albuquerque, our home for the last two years.
We are grateful for the experiences and strength we gained from heading out on our own
so far away from family, friends and anyway that we know.
We made some amazing friends, who I hope we will stay in touch with for the rest of our lives.
...
Here we are all loaded up and ready to go.

Our awesome brother-in-law Justin flew down to help us move.
It was great to have the extra help and driver.
Justin is one of Sean's best friends so we're so excited to live so close to him now
(He and Sean's sister Michelle and their two kids live a mile from us here in West Jordan).

And here's us with the Blackers.
Nathan and Lizi were the best neighbors ever!
Lizi and I hung out pretty much daily.
Our kids loved each other and she was my best friend.
I already miss her!

The drive went smoothly.
Lexi threw up all over herself.
Our check engine light turned on once which worried us a little.
But other than that it was just a really long, boring drive.
...
Once we got to Utah we had so much help moving in.
We had family and friends help us move in, unpack and organize.
Yeah, we have AMAZING friends!
...
Here is a picture of our new living room.

And our new kitchen.

And the most exciting part of our new place, our own laundry room with a washer and dryer!!!

 Moving was exhausting. For everyone!

We are so happy to be here in Utah.
It has felt like we're on vacation because we have been having so much fun
and hanging out with so much family and friends.
We love our apartment.
I will have to post some pictures soon (but first I have to make it picture worthy).
...
And most of all, I'm so grateful the move from New Mexico was a million times better than

Our New Apartment - Our Living and Dinning Room (Halloween Decor)

So here is our new living room...

I have to say that I love the furniture arrangement.

People can actually look at each other.

And I love all the seating.
...

And here's our "dinning room."

It just basically a great room.

What do you think of the bats?

I love them.

Plus they give me something to put on the wall until I can figure out how I'm gonna decorate.
...

We don't have a lot of Halloween decor.

It mostly just on these two shelves.

I made this Frankenstein this year and I love it!
I put it out with a hand saw and painted it and put the bolts in too.

So yeah, this is where we spend most of our time.

Our New Apartment - The Girls' Bedroom and Bathroom

Here's the girls' room from the hall...
And here's their beds.
I made up some subway art to go above Lexi's bed, I just need to refinish the picture frame.
Here's Lexi's side of the room...
And Avery's side...
(The mirror is making weird shadows on the wall.)
And their closet...
(and me.)
And here is their bathroom...
(The picture frames above the toilet have the girls' artwork in them, eventually I'm going to put pictures of the girls in them. I'm thinking baby bath pictures in black and white.)
I wanted it to be feminine but not little girl-ish.
I love it!
This is the first time we've had two bathrooms.
The girls bathroom is twice the size of the one in our old ABQ apartment.
