Washington Trip - Playing in the Snow

Our last day in Washington it snowed like crazy.
And I had no idea that it was even going to snow!
Lexi was EXTREMELY excited.

This was the view from my parents driveway.

Avery was hilarious in the snow.
She's so short and the snow was kind of deep for her.
She struggled walking through it but didn't want any help as she waddled along.

Lexi just wanted to eat the snow.

We decided to let the girls go sledding.
At first they loved it.

Then they fell off the sled a few times and hated it.
I can't blame them.
They landed face first into the snow and had no gloves.
Plus they hit a tree.
I maybe a horrible mom because while they were sledding I stood back and filmed it.

The girls made their first snowman with Grandma.

Then they had a snowball fight with grandpa.
And then they were frozen so it was time to come in.

I was glad that they got to experience the snow.
And now I'm glad that we're back in New Mexico away from the snow!

Pre-Christmas Activities

Why, yes, I'm a bloggin machine right now!

Here are a few pictures from December.

It snowed a few times. It never really stuck though.

The girls however were excited.

Lexi was so excited about Christmas crafts.

Here is a snowman that she made.

She was very proud of it.

And it is still hanging up in our dinning room and probably will all winter long.

Avery made one too.

We (well I) strung popcorn on some thread and we put it on the tree.

It turned out okay but I will probably never do it again.

Next year will try Cheerios or Fruit Loops instead.

We finally had a star on the top of our tree and a tree skirt on the bottom.

We (well the girls) decorated a gingerbread house again this year.

We talked a lot about baby Jesus this year.

Lexi even memorize parts of some scriptures about Christ's birth.

The girls decided to decorate a "manger" for baby Jesus.

Lexi was so concerned that baby Jesus wasn't born in a hospital.

She told me that she would let Jesus in the hotel.

And just for fun here is a picture of the excited bride Lexi and her bride Belle barbie.

And I just was so proud of myself.

I found this remote control Geo Trax's train set at the thrift store for $6!!!

Now we officially have a boy toy at our house.

Snow, Recording Breaking Cold and No Water

Last Monday night it started snowing. It wasn't much though, a few inches. Then Tuesday morning, I took Lexi out to play in it before Avery woke up. She loved it! We only stayed outside for 25 minutes, but that was enough...

Not only did it get cold, it got REALLY cold. Like in the negatives. Record breaking for ABQ. People here aren't prepared for that kind of cold. Pipes froze and broke everywhere - our stake center, at some of our friends' house and even in our complex (we lead us to enduring 28 HOURS without running water). School was canceled because buses couldn't start and the campuses were flooded. The freeway was closed and the governor declared a state of emergency because our state was running out of natural gas AKA the heating! Thankfully, we stayed warm and the storm is over!

Snow Fest 2010

Last weekend we went to Snow Fest, a Rexburg celebration of (you guessed it) snow. Andrea and Brandon went with us. We didn't stay too long (you guess it, we got cold) but we did going sledding with Lexi, let her pet some horses and watched crazy people jump from a platform into freezing cold water.




And people from the town bring their old Christmas trees to be burn.

Thanksgiving Break Review

Today is Monday which means Sean is back in school and the Thanksgiving break is over. Nine days go by fast. It was a good week.

I'm glad that we decided not to go anywhere because we were all sick at some point. And throwing up in someone else's bed is not fun (throwing up in your own bed isn't fun either). Lexi woke up one morning with dried puke all over herself. Sometime in the night she threw up and didn't make a fuss at all. Then one night Sean's stomach started bothering him and next thing I knew he was in the bathroom puking. Luckily he got better real fast. I on the other hand wasn't so lucky. I got sick the night before Thanksgiving. We were up all night. I puked for 5 hours straight, every 20-30 minutes like clockwork. So needless to say I didn't eat any of our Thanksgiving feast. But I'm happy to report that we are all feeling better and keeping our food down.

We had the craziest experience with Lexi early one morning. She's been waking up at night, almost every night for the last month. We've thought it was because of a cough, she was cold and night terrors. Well last week she had a REAL night terror. I have never seen anything like it. She woke up screaming, so Sean went to check on her and couldn't get her to calm down so I got up. We knew right away what was going on. We turned on the lights to try to snap her out of it. Her whole countenance was different. It was like it wasn't her. She wouldn't look at us and she just rolled around on the floor screaming. If I believed the devil could posses babies this is what it would have looked liked. Finally we just put her in the tub and that got her to wake up. Luckily we haven't experienced anything like that since.

Now on to the highlights of the week:

We got A LOT of snow this past week so we bought Lexi her first sled. We took her down a hill a few times and she really seemed to like it. She was giggling. Here is a picture and video of her trying to walk in the snow. A couple of inches are a lot of snow for someone her size.

And this is a video of Lexi's first time going down the hill. She wasn't sure what to think. I'm pretty sure Sean is going to love sledding with her this winter.

So what would a Thanksgiving post being without pictures from Thanksgiving? Here is a picture of Lexi after eating. She ate 3 1/2 rolls by herself. That was her favorite food of the day for sure.

We had Thanksgiving with our friends the Stevens and some of their friends. It was fun just being with friends. I spent a lot of the night laying on the couch watching the little girls play. But I was glad to be out of the house and feeling a little better.

Being sick is not the way to spend the holidays. I think I'm goin to make my own little Thanksgiving feast this week since I didn't get to eat any Thanksgiving food.

Lexi is such a fun little kid. It's hard to believe that she'll be 17 months old in less than a week!

Snow

It's snowed a few times here this year but it hasn't lasted long and hasn't been enough to play in. Well last night it snowed pretty good for 30 minutes. So, I bundled Lexi up and took her outside for her first experience in the snow. She was mesmerized by it. She kept saying snow over and over after I told her what it was called. She loved it... for the first five minutes until her hands got cold. Then I took her inside for a nice warm bath.

We Love Snow

One thing that I love about Rexburg is the seasons. We are in winter right now so that means snow. Today was Snow Fest. Since we have lots of snow we might as well enjoy it. We didn't go for very long. We mainly wanted to check it out. There were free goodies, hot chocolate, bowling, a polar bear dip, snow carving, horse drawn carriage rides, and of course sledding. It's just fun to see the community come together. I am excited to go to things like this when Lexi is bigger. She isn't such a fan yet.

Our Christmas Vacation

No, I have not forgotten about my blog. We have just been on vacation. I wanted to blog while away but for some reason my parents computer wouldn't let me upload pictures (and who wants to read a post without pictures).

We had a wonderful trip, minus the traveling. On the way there we made it through the Blue Mountains right before they closed. On the way back we couldn't get through the Casades because the pass was closed so we had to go a different, longer route.

It was nice to see my family again. They last time they saw Lexi she was 7 weeks old! It was nice to see friends too.

Our time in Washington started with me horribly sick, followed by all of my family and some of Sean's. Then being snowed in. We got so much snow. It was unbelievable!

Christmas was great. It was fun to have Alexia. She of course didn't know what was going on but she enjoyed sucking on the bows of the presents. The highlight of Christmas day was definetly our new Wii. We have wanted one for so long and now we finally have one (which is great because our wonderful friends Buck and Aubrey moved and they were our Wii connection).

We are happy to be back. Traveling is great but it's always nice to be home.
