Lexi's Journal - 2011

New Years Weekend (Dec 2011)
We went to Arizona for the weekend.
Lexi and her cousin Adalynn actually played together.
Every time they have been together before they haven't really been that interested in each other.
But they bonded over their love for all things princess and Barbie.
...
Lexi got her first pedicure.

Christmas 2011
We bought the movie the Grinch.
Lexi couldn't understand why the Grinch was so mean.
He upset her but in the end she ended up loving the movie.

December 2011

Lexi's artwork is starting to actually look recognizable.
She usually draws the nose below the mouth but her faces look like faces.
She draws hair straight up on top of peoples heads.
And if anyone has long hair she calls it Rapunzel hair.
...
Lexi is obsessed with doing Christmas crafts.
She keeps asking to do more.
We decorated a gingerbread house, strung popcorn to put on the tree,
made paper snowmen, painted ornaments for gifts, decorated a manger for baby Jesus and more.

Dec 7, 2011
My 3 year old is already planning her wedding.
She wants a pink bouquet, strawberry cake, Avery is going to be her bride's maid, the brides' maids' dresses are going to be pink, and she wants to get married in the Salt Lake Temple in the spring.
And she wants to dance at her reception and get lots of presents and a ring.

Nov 15, 2011
Lexi: "Mom are you pregnant?"
Me: "No."
Lexi: "Mom will you tell me when you have a baby?"
Me: "Yes."
Lexi: "Mom I want you to stop taking your pills. I want a baby."

October 2011
I just wanted to note that I get asked if my girls are twins several times a week.
I sometimes dress them alike but still there is a big size difference between the two!
...
Lexi started wearing stick on earrings and loves them!
...
Lexi got her hair cut into a cute bob.
I love it!
...
We went to the Balloon Fiesta this year.
We went on opening day and we at the park before the sun rose.
Lexi loved it all expect for the part when we told her she couldn't ride in one of the balloons.
That made her bawl.

Fall 2011
Both the girls got croup for the first time.
They didn't get it that bad but we still had to go to the doctor's several times.

September 2011
Lexi had her first preschool field trip.
We went to the state fair.
My girls had never been before.
We had a lot of fun. At first Lexi was upset. She is really, really shy and
gets really, really stressed out sometimes when we are with big groups.
Eventually she warmed up once we got to the petting zoo.
Eventually we broke up into smaller groups.
We went off with Evelyn and her daughter Tess.
We decided to take the girls to the rides.
Lexi had only been on a carousel before this.
I was expecting her to be terrified of the roller coaster but she loved it.
I think it really helped having Tess there.
The height requirement for all the rides was 36 inches, which Lexi luckily met.
She was 36 inches at her 3 year check up.
...
Lexi went to the dentist for the second time.
Lexi has 20 teeth.
She (we) need to be a little more diligent with our brushing and start flossing.
She was a little nervous and shy but did great.

August 2011
Lexi started preschool.

July 2011
At her three year check up her stats where: 30 lbs (30%) and 36 1/2 inches (30%).
Her doctor informed me that if Lexi remained in there percentiles that as an adult she would be: 5'3 and 115 lbs. It's weird to think about her as an adult.
...
Lexi is really shy around men. And for some reason she was really scared of the missionaries in our ward. We recently got Elders. Lexi liked the Sisters missionaries before them.
Anyway, the "Elders" gave Lexi this back pack to try to win over Lexi.
It kinda worked. She is doing a lot better with them which is great because they are now over weekly with Sean's new calling as Ward Mission Leader.
...
Lexi's new favorite show is Dora the Explorer. She is obsessed with maps now. She is always asking me to draw her a map to the beach or somewhere random.
And at the end of each Dora episode, Dora asks the kids what their favorite part is.
So now whenever we do anything Lexi asks me what my favorite part was.
  ...
The other day I changed Avery's diaper and when I was done Lexi told Avery,
" Go forth and play."
...
Lexi's new favorite game is, "Guess Who?"
She's actually pretty good at it and is fun to play with.

June 2011
We went to Midway, Utah for vacation with my parents right before Lexi's birthday
and we had a little party for her.
The lady who made this cake has been on TLC cake off show four times!
Her bakery was amazing!
...
While we were in Midway we swam a lot. It was so good for Lexi.
She got so much more comfortable in the pool.
Lexi will now jump into the pool, even in the deep end, without anyone there to catch her.
She is always wearing her floaty jacket thing.
...
Lexi loves the Salt Lake temple because it looks like a castle.
...
The Edgley's moved to Seattle.
I knew Lexi would be so sad to see Jaylen go. He's her best friend. We saw him everyday.
So we all get together, the kids eat lunch and we hang out. It's awesome!
The night we went to say goodbye, Lexi and Jaylen cuddled in bed together.
They really do like each other but perhaps it's best we split them up before they are teenagers.
Since Jaylen has left Lexi has referred to him as her best friend and even been quoting him.
...
Lexi loves taking a bath but scared in the pool, well the big pool that is.
She LOVES the kiddie pool where they can stand and touch the bottom.
Lexi did swim lessons for the first time.
Lexi learned to blow bubbles in the water, worked on her kicking,
even went under the water for the first time and jumped into the pool.
And when I first tried to get her to jump into the pool.
She did not want to let go of my hands.
Jumping in the pool was her favorite.
She want to do it again and again.
And eventually she let go of my hands and just jumped in.

May 2011
The pools opened for Memorial Day weekend.
We got Lexi this little life jacket thingy which she will wear
but you still have to hold onto her or she gets scared.
...
The Montgomery pool is less than 30 minute walk from our house,
and it has a kiddie pool. Which is wear Lexi always wants to be.
Lexi loves to make finger prints and hand prints on the pavement.
...
Lexi LOVES, LOVES, LOVES playing in the sand.
...
Lexi and Avery got strep throat for the first time.
...
I  cut about 1 1/2 inches off of the back of Lexi's hair.
...
Lexi's new favorite hair do is braids "like Rapunzel"

May 19, 2011
Lexi was so excited for her dad's birthday.
While Sean was at work we got ready.
Lexi helped me make a big sign to put up on our living room wall.
And Lexi wanted to look pretty for daddy's birthday.
So I dolled her all up.

May 5, 2011
Lexi wanted Avery to model her new swimsuit and Avery was a good sport.

Easter 2011
After church we headed to the temple. We did our family Easter egg hunt there.
The girls had a lot of fun.
After Lexi found all her eggs we just walked around the temple grounds.
When she wasn't looking, Sean would grab an egg out of her basket
and hide it right where we were walking.
Lexi got really excited that she was finding more eggs. It was hilarious.
Eventually she started suspecting that Sean was taking some of her eggs.
Once he grabbed one and she asked him what he had in his hands,
he said nothing and then threw the egg in front of us on the grass.
Lexi saw the egg flying and said that the wind was hiding her eggs.
We all just laughed.

April 28, 2011
Lexi was so excited to be the birthday girl's big sister
and help blow out the candle and help open presents.

April 14, 2011
We rearranged our bedrooms today.
Before Avery was in the bigger bedroom with us.
Now Sean and I are in the smaller bedroom.
And the girls are in the bigger room, which is great because
all of their toys are in there with them!
The girls have done AMAZING as roommates.
It makes me wonder why I wanted so long.
Avery still usually wakes up once to nurse but Lexi has never been woken up by Avery's cries.
And they LOVE being in there together.
It was meant to be!

April 2011
Nana and Papi came to visit us in Albuquerque.
We went to the temple, park, shopping, golfing, out to eat and more.
Lexi especially loved dancing with her grandparents.
When it was time to say goodbye Lexi bawled.
She was so sad.
When I told Lexi that her Nana and Papi were going bye bye,
she told me, "I don't like that."
It broke my heart.
...
Lexi loves spring in Albuquerque!
She gets so excited every time she sees a tree with flowers on it.
Or just flowers in general.
...
At the Botanical Gardens there is a little farm section with some animals.
There were a bunch of bunnies just wondering around.
Sean told Lexi to chase them so she did.

March 2011
Two Sundays ago, Lexi started throwing up in the middle of the night.
She threw up ALL Sunday and had a really high fever.
We were starting to get REALLY worried that she'd have to go to the hospital for dehydration.
She couldn't even keep liquids down.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, she went back and forth
between having diarrhea and throwing up.
Sunday and Monday, it seemed that Lexi had NO life left in her. She didn't talk much.
She didn't move much. It was SO unlike her.
But slowly she got more energy.
And as of last Thursday she has been able hold down her food.

February 23, 2011
Lexi went to the dentist for the first time ever.
And she did great.
She was so excited to go to the dentist like Mommy.
The hygienist was awesome!
She let Lexi see all of the equipment and she even painted Lexi's nails with  a special nail polish.
Lexi still sucks on her fingers and so this should help.
Every time she sticks her fingers in her mouth now she gags. I think this stuff might do the trick!
Lexi did get a little scared when Dr. David Martinez came to look at her.
But he was AWESOME and asked to count her "Princess Teeth."
I'm so happy she had such a good experience.
Lexi was so excited because she got a Cinderella sticker and pink floss and a pink tooth brush.
And they even let her take home a tooth brush for Avery.
And I'm so happy because LEXI HAS NO CAVITIES!

February 2011
Lexi is obsessed with her Disney Princess Sing-a-Long DVDs.
She loves singing along.
Lexi's a little princess. That's for sure.
...
It recently snowed. It wasn't much though, a few inches.
I took Lexi out to play in it before Avery woke up. She loved it!
We only stayed outside for 25 minutes, but that was enough.

February 7, 2011
Today scissors touch Alexia's hair for the first.
I've known that she needed a haircut for awhile now but it was a bit of an emotional thing for me.
Anyway, she did great! She got about 1 1/2 - 2 inches cut off the back of her hair
and the sides were barely trimmed. It looks so much better!
And she seems so much older to me now.

January 5, 2011
Avery has been up on her hands and knees for months but didn't start crawling until Christmas.
Every day since then she has been crawling a little more.
Two days ago, she crawled across the living room and down the hall and into the bathroom where I was getting ready for the day. When she got to me she pulled on my pants leg.
Yesterday, she crawled down the hall and into Lexi's room. Then the girls played in the play kitchen together. It was so precious. And today, Avery kept crawling into the dinning room trying to get Lexi's potty. She even made her way under the dinning room table.
