17 Months Old

Yesterday, our little Alexia turned 17 months old! She is growing up so fast. This month she has learn A TON! She understands so much more, recognizes more words and tries to say more words. I'm posting a bunch of pictures to help remind me of what she's up to...


Lexi thinks she's such a big girl. She always wants to try our food and sip our drinks.


One of Lexi's absolute favorite things to do is color. She has an Elmo coloring book that she colors in everyday. She even recognize a few shapes, like in the picture. She knows what a heart, circle and star are. We're working on colors too.

I just think this is a hilarious picture. I wanted to get a good one of her just sitting and smiling but that is near impossible for this wiggle one year old.

Lexi had a messy bun on top of her head and when I took it out her hair looked like this. I am getting more adventurous with her hair now that she has more of it.

Speaking of hair, look at this pony tail! She still doesn't have enough to do a real ponytail. But that's okay because I think this makes her look a lot older and I am not ready for her to grow up yet.
Lately and I don't know why but Lexi is obsessed with bows. She'll grab my hand and walk me into her room and point to all her bows hanging on the wall and say bow and then point to her hair. You think I'd be thrilled about this but the problem is that she's such a girl. She likes to try a bow on and then asks to try a different one on and she'll do that over and over until she finds the one she likes.

Alexia LOVES to sort, group and organize her toys. For example, I gave her this tube with tennis balls and for 10 minutes straight (no joke, I timed it) she dumped them out of the tube and put them back in over and over. That is so Lexi.


Another example of her obsession with group and sorting- she has a few Little People and she loves to stand them all up on one of her book shelves in a row. She does the same thing with her bath toys along the rim of the tub.

Lexi has always loved books. Her most recent favorite is the church's artbook. We bought it at the distribution center to use for our FHE lessons. But Lexi's loves to look at it daily. She flips through it and points to Jesus and will say his name. She almost always gets Him right but sometimes she get Him confused with other bearded men. She also recognizes the temple and loves pointing to it.

---The other day she was looking through the book and saw a picture of Jesus getting baptized. She was Jesus' name ("de gi") and "wawa". She knew that He was in water. She understands so much.

---That same day she flipped to a picture of Mary praying with Jesus when He was a boy. Lexi looked at the picture and folded her arms. So I knelt and prayed with her. She has such a sweet tender little spirit.

---Another day she was looking at the book and saw a picture of baby Jesus. She ran to grab one of her baby dolls and came back saying baby and pointing to the picture. She is always amazing me with the things she understands.

Another one of her favorite things is the basketball hoop in her room. She loves to climb on the base. She likes to climb on whatever we can. For example, yesterday we were in the clerks office at church (Sean is a clerk) and there were boxes with the new Sunday school manual in them. And Lexi climb up on them and they were nearly as tall as her. She has no fear.

---This past month Lexi has got really good at using a fork. She uses it when she eats scrambled eggs (one of her favorite foods and one of my favorite foods when I was pregnant with her).

---Lexi now tells us when she's hungry. She points to her mouth and says "eeee" for eat and then runs to her high chair.

---And when Lexi is poopy she pats her bottom and runs to the hall closet where her diapers are and says "dada" for diaper.

---Lexi loves watching Elmo's World and so I let her watch it a few times a week. Elmo's neighbor is this weird guy named Mr. Noodle. Lexi loves him and when she sees him she says "new new" for noodle.

---Another one of Lexi's favorite things to do is play with her kitchen and pretend to cook. She loves putting her pretend food on a plate and puts it into the microwave. She also loves getting one of my big wooden spoons and using it to stir all of her food. She loves to do what she sees Mommy doing.

---Last night we watch the Christmas Devontional. We've been teaching Lexi who President Monson is. And last night she recognize him! It made me so proud.
---There are so many other new things she does now. It's hard to remember them all but I wanted to try my best to document them.

Lexi is going to have a little...

...sister! It's a girl! We're so excited. I don't have a sister and I've always wanted one so I'm so happy that Lexi gets one. And her little sister even takes after her, she is a crazy active little baby and she is stubborn. This baby wouldn't let the ultrasound tech get a good look at the brain, kidneys or spine (Lexi wouldn't let us get a good look either). So I have another ultrasound scheduled for next week. We're just so happy that our little one let us see that she's a girl!

We are 90% sure we're naming our daughter Raegan / Reagan (we haven't decided which spelling to use yet) and our second pick is Hazel.

Watch Me Grow!

It's offical. I'm half way done. I'm 20 weeks pregnant. Here are some pictures of my belly the last few weeks (This should make you feel skinny, even after all that Thanksgiving turkey).

This pregnancy is going by fast! I'm so excited for tomorrow. We're going in for an ultrasound to find out what we're having. I hope the baby will cooperate and give us a good peek! Cross you fingers.

Sean left the news on the TV and I'm listening to it as I post. Anyway, there was just a story about a women who's first baby weighed 9 lbs, second baby 11 lbs and she just had her third baby and he weighed 15.6 lbs! HOLY COW! I don't like hearing stories like that.

Thanksgiving Break Review

Today is Monday which means Sean is back in school and the Thanksgiving break is over. Nine days go by fast. It was a good week.

I'm glad that we decided not to go anywhere because we were all sick at some point. And throwing up in someone else's bed is not fun (throwing up in your own bed isn't fun either). Lexi woke up one morning with dried puke all over herself. Sometime in the night she threw up and didn't make a fuss at all. Then one night Sean's stomach started bothering him and next thing I knew he was in the bathroom puking. Luckily he got better real fast. I on the other hand wasn't so lucky. I got sick the night before Thanksgiving. We were up all night. I puked for 5 hours straight, every 20-30 minutes like clockwork. So needless to say I didn't eat any of our Thanksgiving feast. But I'm happy to report that we are all feeling better and keeping our food down.

We had the craziest experience with Lexi early one morning. She's been waking up at night, almost every night for the last month. We've thought it was because of a cough, she was cold and night terrors. Well last week she had a REAL night terror. I have never seen anything like it. She woke up screaming, so Sean went to check on her and couldn't get her to calm down so I got up. We knew right away what was going on. We turned on the lights to try to snap her out of it. Her whole countenance was different. It was like it wasn't her. She wouldn't look at us and she just rolled around on the floor screaming. If I believed the devil could posses babies this is what it would have looked liked. Finally we just put her in the tub and that got her to wake up. Luckily we haven't experienced anything like that since.

Now on to the highlights of the week:

We got A LOT of snow this past week so we bought Lexi her first sled. We took her down a hill a few times and she really seemed to like it. She was giggling. Here is a picture and video of her trying to walk in the snow. A couple of inches are a lot of snow for someone her size.

And this is a video of Lexi's first time going down the hill. She wasn't sure what to think. I'm pretty sure Sean is going to love sledding with her this winter.

So what would a Thanksgiving post being without pictures from Thanksgiving? Here is a picture of Lexi after eating. She ate 3 1/2 rolls by herself. That was her favorite food of the day for sure.

We had Thanksgiving with our friends the Stevens and some of their friends. It was fun just being with friends. I spent a lot of the night laying on the couch watching the little girls play. But I was glad to be out of the house and feeling a little better.

Being sick is not the way to spend the holidays. I think I'm goin to make my own little Thanksgiving feast this week since I didn't get to eat any Thanksgiving food.

Lexi is such a fun little kid. It's hard to believe that she'll be 17 months old in less than a week!

The Begining of a Great Break

Other than yesterday's drama this Thanksgiving break is starting off great! And FYI, I'm feeling a lot better and I slept nearly 12 hours last night, which was greatly needed.

I bought Lexi this lion "backpack" for our trip to Washington next month. It has a tale or leash attachment which will be great when we're in the airport. Yes, I'm one of those moms who has a leash for her kids. Lexi loves this backpack though. She always wants to wear it. I think it makes her look older.



We also got Lexi this little used pop up tent off of Bulletin board and it's a hit. She LOVES it! And she always wants Daddy to go in it with her.



Sean wanted to watch "Up" so we got it from Redbox. And we watched it together this morning. Lexi even laid on the floor on a pillow (for a few minutes).



And today we went to H-AIR at the Rex. It's a bounce house. Lexi LOVED it. Especially the slides. For all you Rexburg moms, Lexi was free and one parent gets to play free too. So if anyone wants to go there for play dates this winter, call me!

I'm so excited for this break. We're staying in Rexburg and planning on having lots of family time.

Scary E.R. Visit and Pregnancy Update

This week I've been having trouble sleeping. So last night I look a Unisom sleeping pill. Not long after that I was experiencing REALLY intense stomach pain. I couldn't sleep at all and was so miserable! I wasn't sure if the pain was related to the pill but I knew that something wasn't right. So at 2 am this morning Sean took me to the hospital. Our amazing neighbors listened to Lexi's baby monitor for us.

I was in tears when we got the ER. I was worried and so tired from the Unisom. My blood and urine tested normal but they had trouble finding our baby's heartbeat. It look more than a minute but felt like an hour before they found the heartbeat. Sean later said that if they took much longer to find the heartbeat he would have started crying, which is saying a lot because Sean NEVER cries.

They couldn't determine what was wrong so they gave me some pain medication and a drink to take to clean me out incase I was constipated. Which I knew I wasn't. On the way home I started drinking that nasty liquid and instantly started throwing it up. Good thing I had brought along a bowl just in case.

This morning we went back to the hospital for an ultrasound. We got hooked up and the technician told me that I needed to go drink 3 water bottles full of water and come back in an hour. I drank a ton of water and some orange juice. I drank so much that I felt so sick. When we were walking back up to the hospital, I felt horrible. I threw up all my breakfast and all those liquids right on the grass outside the front entrance. So all that hard work was for nothing!

Our ultrasound went good. At first the tech wasn't saying anything which made me worried. She thought there might be a problem with my cervix she later told us but ultimately she determined that everything looked great. Our baby is healthy. "Pat" has a good heart rate and is VERY active. During the ultrasound the baby flip completely several times. We were hoping that we'd get to find out the gender today but our child wouldn't let us get a good look. So we have to wait until the 1st still. This baby is reminding me a lot of Lexi. She wouldn't cooperate in her ultrasounds either.

The tech did tell me that she saw me having contractions on the ultrasound. So that probably was what caused all this. I never even thought of that.


The highlight of it all is that we have a healthy baby.

Christmas Came Early

I'm super excited for Christmas this year. I can't wait to be with family and to see Lexi's excitement on Christmas morning. So I decided to put up some decorations last weekend. It's not much. We don't really decorate our apartment because we're never he for Christmas but it has put me in the Christmas spirit. And yes, I have already started listening to Christmas music.




I found some fun things on bulletin board (BYU-I's version of craig's list) for Lexi. I'm calling them Christmas gifts. I can't take these toys to Washington next month and don't want to hid them in my closet so Christmas came early for Lexi. Oh well, she doesn't know any better.

We got Lexi a small inexpensive kitchen set which she loves! There are dishes and food too. She's played with them ALL day. It's amazing! When she gets older and bigger I want to get her a really nice kitchen (listen to me, I sound like a snob) but for now this is perfect.




We also got her a Little People Barn. It came with a few animals and makes sounds. And it was only $2, such a great deal! I'm looking on ebay for some more animals to go with the set.

Snow

It's snowed a few times here this year but it hasn't lasted long and hasn't been enough to play in. Well last night it snowed pretty good for 30 minutes. So, I bundled Lexi up and took her outside for her first experience in the snow. She was mesmerized by it. She kept saying snow over and over after I told her what it was called. She loved it... for the first five minutes until her hands got cold. Then I took her inside for a nice warm bath.

Boy or Girl...

I had a regular check up today. Nothing special, just pee in a cup and check the heart beat sort of appointment. I scheduled my ultrasound!!! Dec 1st is the big day. I can't wait! (Like you couldn't tell I'm excited by the giant countdown at the top of my blog).

When I was pregnant with Lexi, I KNEW I was having a girl. This time around, I don't having a gut feeling about the gender. Today Dr. Allred guessed I was having a boy by the sound of the heartbeat but at my last visit a different doctor told me the heartbeat sounded like a girl's. So who knows. Anyway, I put a poll up. So vote on what you think the baby will be and in 19 days we'll find out if you're right.

Either way, Sean and will be so excited. We have LOVED having a little girl and would love another but it would be fun to have a boy and by ties for church and trucks.

16 Months Old

With each passing month, Lexi changes so much. She is always learning new things. Here are some pictures of Lexi this week...

Dancing to the "If Your Happy and You Know It" song. Here she is clapping her hands along with the words. This is one of her favorite primary songs.

Frustrated that I'm blocking the door. She is trying to close it so she can be in her room all by herself (one of her favorite things).

This isn't a great picture but it will work. If you look closely you can see that Lexi has a blush brush. One of her latest obessions is... make-up! That's right, make-up. A week ago she saw me putting it on and was curious so I put some blush on her cheeks. Now whenever she sees me putting on make-up she points to her cheeks. She likes to use the brush to "put" blush on herself and her stuffed animals.

Another obession is tupperware. I was finding spoons and measuring cups in and under the couch and all over the place so I went to the dollar store and bought her some of her own.

We've had some really nice days this week (I have a feeling that is all about to change). Lexi loves going outside. She brings me my shoes and her shoes and points to our jackets on the coat rack. She tries to do everything she can to get me to take her outside.

Lexi's hair is starting to look shaggy and falls into her eyes. So I'm trying to figure out the best way to style it. With these make-shift pigtails, I think she looks like a bug.

Some more of Lexi's favorite things are:

1) ...Elmo. She loves him. She freaks out whenever she sees him. She calls him "Momo." I need to get this girl a Tickle-Me-Elmo.

2) Lexi also loves coloring. She loves to carry around a notebook and crayons and scribble. Sometimes she likes it when we draw with her and other times she just takes away our crayons.

3) Lexi's favorite snack is popcorn. She points to the popcorn box ontop of the cupboard every afternoon. And once Sean puts it in the mircowave she opens the cupboard and trys to pull out the bowl on her own. I've popped it in the air popper a few times for her and she seems to enjoy that too.

4) Now when we ask her, "Where's Lexi?" she points to herself. It's adorable! She loves to point to things that she knows. Everyday I ask her, Where Nana Krisit is and she points to the picture on the wall and says Nana. She also points and say "Gigi" for my mom. We haven't got her to say grandpa yet but we're working on it.

5) Lexi loves the fridge. She loves to open it and name all the food she recognizes. This girl would love a little pretend kitchen!

Preggo Pics

So this pregnancy is flying by! One of the perks of being pregnant with an active one year old. So I was religious at taking pictures of myself every two weeks when I was pregnant the first time. I haven't been that good this time around but I believe it's because 1) I don't shower and get dress everyday and 2) I don't feel like my belly has changed that much yet, seriously. Looking back at pictures of my last pregnancy, I'd say right now at 16 weeks I look like I did at 12 weeks with Lexi!
